Can medical insurance from one state be used in another? ?

Im 22 and am currently a resident of NY. I like the hospital I was going to in PA and I was in a bad accident and was seen in PA. Loved the physical therapist I was seeing. The medical from the drivers insurance has exhausted and will no longer cover so I need to apply for it thru the state... im not sure what to do... HELP PLEASE!!?
