Do you have any funny stories about saying the wrong thing in a 2nd language?

Some friends of mine went to India last year and were told to say a certain word for "thank you." They used it all the time and were confused when they got funny looks. When they got back they discovered that they had actually been saying "praise the lord!" every time someone gave them directions, refilled their glass of water... etc.
