I work for a company and they renovating the building can the paint fumes be harmful?

i work for a non profit org. its be doing renovations for two weeks there painting in the building there's no exhaust or ventilation of any kind many customers and employees complain about the smell many get headaches and feel sick they don't wanna close the store just wanna keep it open and keep exposing many people to the paint fumes which are really strong and lasts all day
